stroblmeandClaude Opus 5 e25351f515 Correct the flow.css header: the canvas does pass colorMode
The comment said the canvas follows the theme without a `colorMode` prop. It
does not — React Flow stamps that prop on the wrapper as a class and defaults
it to `light`, which collided with the app's own `.light` token scope and
re-themed the whole canvas. The prop landed in 4e1898a; this is its reason.

`--xy-connectionline-stroke` was never set, so the line dragged between two
ports took xyflow's `#b1b1b7` literal in both themes and was a hair thinner
than the edge it became. It is a selection-like state, so it takes `--primary`
and the canvas's own edge width.

stroblmeandClaude Opus 5 d240fa1f3e Brain view: slower edge falloff, chase arc in the neuron's gap
--brain-decay 90s -> 150s and the wire floor 32% -> 16%, so a quiet
connection dims further and takes longer doing it. The pulse ring's inset
and band become custom properties (defaults unchanged for the editor's
card), and the neuron passes its own ring and gap so the arc runs the full
width of the gap; it moves after the disc, which otherwise paints over it.

stroblmeandClaude Opus 5 b2ade12518 Give the canvas dot grid the token colour React Flow actually reads
`flow.css` set `--xy-background-pattern-dots-color`, which nothing reads:
xyflow's `.react-flow__background-pattern.dots` reads
`--xy-background-pattern-color` and only falls back to the `-dots-color-default`
literal. The grid was therefore pinned to `#91919a` in both themes — and with no
`colorMode` prop the `.react-flow.dark` default never applies either, so it read
as a light-mode grid on a dark canvas.

stroblmeandClaude Opus 5 b0efb4b0f1 Let a node's failure outlive the run that followed it
A node's error cleared the moment it ran again, so a failure that genuinely
fired an alert could leave no trace on the canvas by the time anyone looked.
The engine records it now — on the node's status, so it survives a reload and
every client agrees — and reading the traceback is what clears it. The seam is
the event bus, which is where every failing path already meets: a queued live
run, an explicit run, a preview, and a single triggered node all publish
`node_error`, while the controller's own observer would have seen only one of
them.

That was half the confusion. The other half: clicking a failed neuron on Home
often landed on a flow where everything looked fine. Nodes merge into one
neuron by instance key — every InfluxDB node pointing at the same bucket is one
neuron — and the click went to whichever flow contributed a member first, not
the one that failed. It now goes to the failing member and selects it, and the
canvas marks a failing node rather than leaving it to the dot alone.

The inject node emitted one payload to every port it declared, whatever their
types, so an inject on a bool port carrying the text "true" raised at publish
time. Each port gets its own field now, typed and parsed by that port's dtype,
and remembers what it last sent. A port that is renamed carries its value with
it; one that is removed takes its value with it. An inject written before this
keeps emitting exactly what it did.

The derived-cron chip also appeared on the delay node, where `interval` is a
rate limit and a schedule derived from it means nothing.

The arc was one-shot feedback for an emit, so a node that works for minutes
showed nothing after the first half second. A run now holds the ring on the
node and laps it until the node stops.

stroblmeandClaude Opus 5 558e1cdf18 Send a node's emit pulse round the rim instead of scaling it out
The ring hung off the node itself, and `inset` on an absolute child
resolves against the padding box — so on the brain's thick status ring it
landed inside the outer edge and painted over the status the ring carries.
Both node shapes now hang it off a border-less wrapper, where the same
offsets clear the rim whatever border the node draws (measured: 4px on all
four sides, on a 1px card border and a 7px neuron ring alike).

The shape is a conic-gradient arc masked to the padding band, running one
lap in `--duration-pulse` and going out on the way past.

Note: BrainNode.tsx also carries an unrelated in-flight change from a
concurrent session (the `seen` ref gating the pulse on a real emit); the
two could not be separated in one file.

stroblmeandClaude Opus 5 2aa911c07a Flow canvas: mark streaming edges with a marching dash
A port with `stream` set publishes repeatedly during one execution, and
until now nothing on the canvas said so. `deriveEdges` carries the flag
from the producing `MessageSpec` onto the edge, `LiveEdge` turns it into
an `edge-stream` class, and the class draws a dashed stroke whose offset
marches toward the target. The pulse still lands on top: both animations
share one declaration when a value arrives on a streaming edge.

stroblmeandClaude Opus 5 74571d04fc Brain graph: thinner ring, integer border, heavier connections
The ring share drops from the wordmark's 0.231 to 0.18 so the disc reads as a
dot at 32px, and both the border and the gap are rounded where they are applied
— a fractional border snaps per edge and left the disc off centre. Connections
and their port dots go up with it, pulse width included, so an arriving message
never draws its edge thinner than it rests.

stroblmeandClaude Opus 5 69421b857d Brain: hover labels, activity falloff, rim-anchored directed edges
A name under every circle was most of what the graph drew, and none of it was
what someone looks at the brain for. Only the hovered or keyboard-focused
neuron names itself now — a failing one always does, since colour is never the
only carrier of a status. The label is absolute and the collide radius already
held that space, so revealing one moves nothing. Taking it out of flow also
fixed the off-centre edges: the node box was as wide as its widest label, so a
32px circle inside a 140px box sat 54px left of where the layout put it and
every edge aimed at the box rather than at the circle.

Neurons are filled discs rather than `bg-card` outlines, which were a hairline
against `--background` in light and close to nothing in dark. The fill is a
neutral `--muted-foreground` alpha and stays neutral: status still speaks only
through the border and the word beneath. Its lightness carries how recently the
open page saw that neuron publish — brightest just after it fires, decaying over
90s to a floor it never drops below, so a graph left open sorts itself into what
is busy and what is not. Edges do the same on their stroke. The signal is only
what this session has seen on the socket, so a fresh page starts everything at a
neutral middle rather than claiming a history it does not have. Both are CSS
transitions gated on `prefers-reduced-motion`, decayed out of and snapped into,
never the other way round.

`BrainEdge` now carries both circle radii and trims its path back to the rims,
with an arrowhead at the end it flows into. The barbs are two more segments of
the same stroked path rather than an SVG marker, so they dim with the line they
belong to. Neither trim reaches past the midpoint, so neurons closer together
than their radii still get a line pointing the right way.

`edge-pulse` reads its landing colour from `--edge-rest` instead of naming
`--muted-foreground`, so a selected edge — which rests in blue — decays into its
own colour instead of crossing to grey and snapping back at the end.

Obsidian's graph view is the reference for the first three: filled nodes sized
by degree, labels on a fade threshold with hover to recover them, and arrows as
an explicit affordance. The falloff-by-opacity encoding is the standard one in
the dynamic-graph literature.

stroblmeandClaude Fable 5 affb0a5f8c Fold the brain and health screens into Home
Home is the one overview now: the brain graph flat across the top, the flow
switches, then the health sections. The /brain and /health routes and their
sidebar entries are gone.

- charts report their cursor and clicks, so hovering one filters the list
beside it to that minute and a click pins it until Escape or Clear
- chart values round to about three significant digits, the legend mounts
under the plot so it can wrap without leaving the card, and axis ticks
  shorten past a thousand
- the embedded brain leaves the wheel to the page rather than zooming
- number fields no longer draw their up/down spinner (NOTEPAD)

stroblmeandClaude Fable 5 4bcd38354b Draw every flow as one graph, merged on what it talks to
A node type can now say which outside thing its parameters point at, and
nodes sharing one — a broker topic, a URL, a bucket — are drawn as a single
neuron on a new /brain canvas. That makes the wiring which runs between
flows through a broker visible for the first time; no single flow's canvas
can show it. The key is read off stored parameters, so a credential
reference never reaches an id.

Layout is a d3 force simulation settled once and then frozen, lit by the
socket the editor already listens to: a neuron pulses when any node behind
it publishes, and its connections light as values pass.

Fixes the message pulse while here: interpolating the stroke against the
edge's `color-mix()` resting colour went through oklab and left the gamut,
which turned every pulse on both canvases fluorescent yellow.

stroblmeandClaude Fable 5 929bb56662 Let an edge pulse end where it started, and draw what it carried
The pulse named its own end colour, so a selected edge decayed to the
neutral stroke and snapped back to blue — a second pulse. Dropping the
`to` keyframe lets the animation land on whatever the edge rests at.

Clicking an edge now shows the same sparkline the node panel draws for
that message, so a single value is read against how it has been moving.

Melvin StroblandClaude Fable 5 aa0e760615 Give the pulse its own duration, and let the editor fill the screen
The shared duration tokens had been stretched to slow the pulses down, which
also slowed every panel and dock animation and left `motion.ts` out of step
with the CSS. Both are back to 200/300 ms, and the pulses use a new
`--duration-pulse` (500 ms): a message arriving is a signal, not a state
change, and it is the only thing here that should linger. The edge pulse read
its own 300 ms constant, so it now takes the token through `motion.ts` and the
two sides cannot drift again.

The code editor also expands: the same node panel fills the content region
beside the sidebar, the canvas chrome steps aside rather than floating on top,
and the settings above the editor keep a readable width.

Melvin StroblandClaude Fable 5 fd666743d2 Add flow settings, pulse emitting nodes, and simplify node state
- One dot per node now carries the whole story: primary while running, sage
after a good run, red when anything is wrong, with the explanation on hover.
The corner badge is gone, along with the second way of saying the same thing.
- A node that publishes something flashes a ring, so a running flow is legible
without reading the edge values. Nodes that consume but publish nothing stay
quiet, which is why the event carries an output count.
- Flow settings open in the same panel its nodes use, from a pencil in the
dock: the title, the name, and deleting the flow. NodePanel and FlowPanel
share the panel chrome rather than each drawing their own.
- Renaming is a server operation, because a flow's name is the namespace of its
messages: the directory moves and every other flow reading `old.message` is
repointed, instead of being left pointing at a flow that no longer exists.

Melvin StroblandClaude Fable 5 8c82549cf6 Add the flow editor: canvas, node panel and live values
The browser half of M3. Flows open on a full-bleed canvas with their chrome
floating over it: flow tabs top, dock bottom, node settings in a panel on the
right that leaves the graph visible and running behind it.

- Connections are derived, not stored. A node declares the messages it reads
and publishes; every matching pair draws an edge, so two producers of one
message converge on their consumer. Dragging output to input is shorthand
for pointing that input at the producer's message, and asks before it
  replaces an existing one.
- Values land on the edges as they flow, over a websocket that feeds a store
outside React, so a value arriving re-renders its own chip and nothing else.
Clicking an edge shows the last payload and when it arrived.
- Node source is edited in Monaco, loaded only when a panel opens and themed
  from the design tokens.
- Edits autosave; identical documents are skipped server-side, so a quiet
  canvas writes nothing.
- Validation from the API shows on the node it belongs to and is summarised in
the dock, where each entry pans to its node.
- Works on a phone: touch-connect, 44px dock targets, and the node panel
  becomes a full-screen sheet.

Two new tokens (--status-success, --font-mono) are mirrored in the website repo
and recorded in DESIGN-GUIDELINES.md.
